January 14 stone~
winter's shadow
leans into the weathered barn
for a January embrace.
i came across this old barn on a recent drive. after participating in Barn Charm a few times i find it difficult not to notice a barn. there are so many of them, even in the midst of the city. so i pull over and snap. this one had the added flavor of a late-day shadow.
thanks for checking out my shadow today. head on over and visit Shadow Shot Sunday 2 where shadow chasers around the planet gather for their weekly meet-up. you'll be glad you did. happy saturday everyone. sit long, talk much.

love your shadow shot for today. old barns, bare trees...shadows...is there anything better. have a lovely saturday ms. becky!!
It is really beautiful!
That little strip of red around the barn serves as a sort of frame for the whole photo. An endearing (although chilly) shot!

Oh! You have me wanting to see more of that charming barn! But, I am pleased with the extra bonus of the shadow too! Lovely!
What a lovely shot. I love tree shadows.
i love that red line!!! gorgeous shot and stone!
The red trim is a real eye-catcher--but I'm also drawn to all the great texture on the weathered boards--knots and nail holes, and hints of peeling paint. Very nice shot! I love your new snowy blog header, too :)
Nice shot. I think my window of opportunity for shadows has passed.
This is a good shot and definitely says "winter" to me! Barns are something I never really look for. Perhaps I should - after all, just look at all the beauty I've found since I started noticing shadows!
The weathered siding on the barn is so honest - in its job of protecting things inside from the elements, it painted sheen is long gone. Hence its honor. The dove gray hue is perfect a a canvas for shadows, so it is a vehicle for natural art too. A fine capture! Enjoy your week!
Oh-oh, new header photo. I knew it was bound to happen. Now the bitter cold snow covers the once pretty grassey field. Brrr...
thank you so much for stopping by my place and saying hello! I especially love the red edges of the barn, it gives this photo an extra special dimension. wonderful capture!

hello sweet friend :) I would love to sit long and talk much with you. I more of a listener but I've a feeling we would both share good words. just a quick hello, I'm in and out of the internet, trying to get back on track, but still dizzy, sleepy and a little scared with what comes next, because although I've an injection that last a week and a few days, after that we still need to find a new drug for me. one good thing: at least, after three years with these meds I had to stop them all, with the injection they're too much. at least my body can rest for a couple of weeks from all the pills, lol. love the light on your photo. so comfy. and noticed that your banner has finally snow :) yay
xxo
Lovely capture of the branches in counterpoint with their shadows...
This is such a great time of year to branch shadows on large buildings such as this great barn!
You know that I'm also very fond of barns and yours is very beautiful with that kind of shingled roof and the shadows. But I can't say that I like the red color, even if it makes the photo awesome and me curious as I wonder why someone painted it.
I like the shadow of the tree on the barn roof. Becky your pictures are always good
Love your new header photo - glad to see you finally got the snow you've been longing for. Great shadow shot, but that unexpected zip of red really snaps this image to life. Have a happy weekend!
Nice photo - I think the red is just the right, unexpected spash of color and sets off the shot very well. Great eye!
The siding, roof, and the red trim... all so different in texture. Very pretty.
Shadows are great too. :)
What a lovely series of prints and a unique one of the
barn! Yes, it would be very nice to have coffee, were you living here, or I there!
The red trim is the icing! No snow on that roof though.
Gives me a little chill. I can almost hear the wind shaking the limbs against the graveyard gray barn.
A very nice shadow on a pretty spiffy barn. You had a good eye the day you shot this one. Hope all is well. I have had Montezuma’s Revenge but finally went to doctor so hope to fell better soon. The coughing is a killer! Hugs, genie
Lovely textured detail on this wall which creates an interesting background for that detail of shadows! Fascinating photo!
Nothing better than an old barn covered in shadows.
A lovely crisp clear image, very wintery looking. Love the shadows and the barn.
I like what you wrote to accompany the photo.
Wow, looks like a painting!
Come find out the origin of my shadow last week.
I sure do like old barns too. Neat Shadow Shot! Happy SSS.
Late day light so often produces the best shots and this is a real winner....
The barn and the shadow are great... and the red trim makes the shot.
lovely tree shadow on the barn
EVERYTHING about this picture works so well! It is so inviting and awesome! Excellent shot!
Have a great week!
John

Beautiful shadows, and I love all the textures, too, in the tree and the shingles.
