the creative exchange

January 9 stone~

who notices the thinner-than-usual
ice on the pond?
the mallard that waddles,
then unexpectedly swims.

I took a nice long nature walk yesterday at one of my favorite spots - The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center along the north shore.   It has a bit of everything - forested trails, ponds, and lake shore.    Come along with me and I'll show you a few of the sights...

tangled bare branches that waltz in the light...

...and ground mosses whispering their earthy delights.

remnants of summer's canopy bound by the ice...

the rooted sentinel which stands at the shore...

blanketed with treasures from the lake's deepest floor.

back up to the top of the bluff,  more sunlight and grasses

before saying farewell to the day's final rays.

Well wasn't that just a fun dance?   Thanks for coming along.   Today I'm linking up with lovely Lisa over at The Creative Exchange.    Head over there and join in or drop in on the other creatives and spread some love around.    You'll be glad you did.     Happy Monday everyone.    Sit long, talk much.

Becky, these are wonderful, and your weather looks very much like what we are experiencing here now.
I just love the last photograph here. Beautiful simplicity and tones.

Thank you so very much for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Becky,
Artful weaving of words and images today!!! My favorite captures are #1 (lovely color and design within natures chaos), #3 (composition and glimmer!), and the last (wonderful soft mood and zen feel). Thanks for sharing this delightful walk:)
Have a super week my friend!

Your words are so lyrical and make the photos sing. It is oft the words then accompanied by images I feel show some of your strongest posts. But what do I know?
I have some faves here...the last two for SURE and that lead image has a wonderful gentle feel to it. I also like the rocks, they remind me of my rocky beaches here.
Happy day friend.

MS Becky, thanks for stopping by. No, I'm an Oregon girl, born and bred. Never lived anywhere else, but I'm a traveling girl, can't get enough of it. went to Milwaukie last Sept. Part of our Wisconsin, Chicago, trip, and did a stopover in Milwaukie and took in a Brewers game, but before that HAD to check out the brewery!

Love the poetic narrative to accompany great winter scenes! You make bare branches look beautiful!

I love the slight tinge of blue in all the photos - winter's light maybe? The icy tin foil leaves are my favorite.

We've had a mild sunny day today here too. I love those stunning pics.

So much beauty! You are lucky to live nearby. Or you are lucky to have an eye for beauty or both.

Gee, I have a difficult time as it is just to get a post together with some pictures and a few words. You take it to another level of difficulty with a poetic flair. I like all your pictures. You have a knack to make the ordinary interesting with your camera. The second to last one with the refracted light in the lens creating the red circle is unique. Have your fingers thawed?

All of your photos are spectacular. I especially like the last one of the prairie flowers. It looks cold, but inviting at the same time.
