"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead, and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big hat, I'm all ready you see,
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!"
It was still dark out when I woke this morning and rain was hitting the windowpane. It's a hard, cold rain. I felt no guilt in wanting to roll over and go back to sleep but instead I lay listening to the wet morning. Eventually Daiseymae made her demands known - she wanted the bed all to herself. As soon as I'm out and the bed is made, the three of them are in their spots, claiming it as their own for the rest of the day. It's a comforting routine.
This week has seen some wild weather and not much sun. It was shining one day - when I went to get my hair cut. I caught some sidewalk shadows just outside the door. Head on over to visit Tracy at Hey Harriet to check out shadows around the globe. Happy Saturday everyone. Sit long, talk much.

Aren't you glad for all those archived photos on rainy days? :)
EVERYWHERE SHADOWS
Shadows above and shadows below,
Shadows that blaze and shadows that glow;
Shadows outside and shadows indoors,
Shadows on trees and shadows on floors;
Everywhere shadows calling my name,
Everywhere shadows no one can tame.

it seems that many of us are in the same boat this week ms. becky. time for the woolie cap, scarf and mittens for sure.
happy sss!!!
Aren't we happy to have our photo archives!! Marvelous shadow shot for the day, Becky, and I love the Dr. Seuss quote! Enjoy your weekend! Stay warm!

Ms.Becky, I think DaisyMae and her 2 cohorts have the right idea! I do like this ShadowShot...aren't archives great?! Happy SSS.
These are great shadows! Have a wonderful (if rainy) weekend! Just think, here it is snowing today, yesterday it was blowing (fiercely) and the day before we had freezing rain. Let me tell you there were quite a few vehicles in the ditches as I drove carefully along the highway . . . :(
The urban landscape seems gray to many, old and in disrepair is what we often see. Yet here, the fence of iron leaves a wonderful geometric pattern on the tidy sidewalk scene. Stunning and artistic!
Ms. Becky I love going back to bed and listening to the rain while wrapped up nice and cozy : ) There is nothing more comforting in fact .. other than a few cats adding to the warm bed ! LOL
Great straight shadows with no funny business .. rather strict I think ? ;-)

Happy day to you, my friend. Nice shot.
Funnily enough, I always think the nicest time to listen to the rain is when you're warm and cosy tucked up in bed. Love your shadow pic.
Lovely long sidewalk shadows! I too had to dive into archive suns for shadows today! Rainy worlds are a daily feature for now!
It has been a wild weather week here too...some snow and today a little sun...
Sweet Daisymae knows the right moves. Funny how cats let us know what they want or need.
Interesting how the shadows change as they move from the fence, to the grass, and finally to the sidewalk.
Love the crispness of the black shadows on the sidewalk.
Have a great weekend.
Nice B & W treatment, something I should do more often. I am almost ready to trade this wind (3 days now) for some rain, even if it is your type, a cold rain, that's how fed up I am with this wind.
I think perhaps the Sun
Has chosen to dress the walkway
Pin-stripes will do...
Nice photo!
I love this composition, excellent and very creative, great play of light and shadows.
I am glad you needed a hair cut or we would have missed these great shadows.
Nice shadow shot...I assume daisymae is a cat?
Gorgeous crisp clear shadow shots.
Beautiful capture Ms. Becky!
Wonderful play of light and shade here, with an almost abstract quality to the photo!
Always feast for the hunger that may come! That's what I say. Lucky for us that you got these while it was there to be had.
Isn't it practical to have camera always with you - you never know what shows up, worth to shoot.
It's raining here today but it's Sunday - a good day to stay inside!
I love fence shadows and this works really well in monochrome...
I love your Dr Suess quote, just a few minutes ago I was looking for a quote from him for my son's primary school farewell.
I liked one from the book "O the places you'll go!"
I had the same kind of morning... the stay curled up in bed kind... Good you had some sun this week to capture this fence shadow, perfect for monochrome. Hope you were happy with your haircut, Becky. :-)
Awwwwwwww, Dr. Suess....a spirited wonderful man is he. {giggles}
Love your shadow Ms. Becky!!
Here is my link to my shadow shots If a tree falls in the swamp, do you HEAR it?
Hope you're having a great weekend.
Great poem and great capture.
Loving shadows made by fence posts ATM.
Wishing you a lovely sunshiny week ahead :)
I love the fence--nice long shadows. I've been sun-challenged this week, too, so had to search a bit to join back in (but I'm glad I did).
Wish our weather is like yours. Very crispy shot!
Have a great SSS...

It's cold and rainy here this morning, too. And I actually feel like getting out for a change. Maybe later. Love the shadows!
Fantastic! Love the fence and its shadow. Terrific capture!
pulling the covers over my head and trying to go back to sleep is a habit of mine .. and, the dogs will definitely let me know when I've ignored them for too long!
thanks for the photo, I love the shadows from fences!
Like your Dr. Seuss quote...and your fence shadow. Hope you've had a lovely weekend!
Thank you for such a heartwarming post....:)
I love your stunning sidewalk shadows! Wow! I feel no guilt in rolling back over and catching some more sleep when it's a rainy morning. Unless of course I do that on a work day ;)
Have a wonderful week!
What a perfect fence shadow you captured for us. How in the world did you do it? You hit the nail on the head. Great shot. Love the Dr. Seuss, too. Happy Sunday to you tomorrow. Only 7 days left til break. The troops are really restless so am a basket case by the time I get home in the afternoon. genie
