happy holidays

Happy winter's solstice everyone!

texture - Kim Klassen's wonderful magic stars

Tomorrow I leave for my Mum's house in N.W. Illinois, just across the state line in Jo Daviess county where I grew up.    My sis lives in Oregon and won't be there, but my brother and his family will be celebrating with us.  We no longer trade gifts; instead we choose to eat way too much and then play a rousing game of Uno.   The Packers play their arch rivals - the Chicago Bears, on Christmas evening.  Luckily for me my family has always been Packer fans, so no familial conflicts there thank goodness.   An Alberta clipper is forecast to be coming through tomorrow morning, giving us perhaps half an inch of snow!    Things are looking up and white.    Today I'm linking up with Ana and friends over at Wonderland for the Earth Wonders photo challenge.  This week's prompt is Xmas. tree...

texture - Kim Klassen's wonderful magic stars

That's my first Xmas. tree in years.   I had to get the decorations out of storage, and while rummaging around the unit I came across my collection of aluminum trees and color wheels.   I debated using one of those, but went for a live tree this year and I'm very happy I did - the fragrance is divine!

I'll be on holiday break until later next week.    Wishing you all safe travels,  the merriest of holidays, and a whole lot of peace, love, and understanding.

I will also be with my family (only my younger sister stays in London) each one of us give one gift so all grown ups get a gift, the only person who get gifts from all the family is my niece. I just visited another blog w/ a shot of an ornament & a texture applied... I would never have thought that a picture w/ that much in the shot would look good w/ a texture applied, but hers & yours both look so awesome! I gotta try it... =0 So cool! =)

Merry Christmas Becky. Being with family... not much any better than that. Oregon...my home as a child and never to be forgotten after last visit in 1994...maybe another one coming in near future too~

Love the photos and textures - I must have missed that one. Looks like we're only going to get some light snow showers and with a high of 37 on Christmas Day it will probably not be a white Christmas.

Enjoy a wonderful Christmas with your mother and family, Becky!

I really like the thought of no gifts. Perhaps I can persuade my family to do so next year.

Your tree is lovely, Becky. Wishing you a wonderful holiday with your family. xoxo

Wow, I love how you photographed your tree.

We're staying home for Christmas.

I guess that I'll be watching the game also. I'm a Dallas fan but I love to watch the Packers, Bears, and Vikings play. That's some serious football.

Hope you have a grand trip. We leave Christmas Eve to go to Eloise and then on to Maryland to my daughter’s on Christmas Day. Have signed on to take Kim’s new 2012-52 week course. I cannot wait til it starts on the 16th of January. The minute I read her email, I sent in my money. Love your photos tonight. They are beautiful. The first one is awesome and the second one is so festive. Love them both. genie

The tree is very creative, and a trip for me!
AND your old ornaments are devine. Again I too share that love of the oldness on a tree. There are not ornaments like back in the day anymore. If you have them, keep em. I wish you much light and happiness in the new year. I adore that you spend time with your family and refrain from gifts. Isn't it the time with family, the good food, and fun all part of a tradition that sticks to our souls? Keep on doing it. I hope to keep in touch with you as long as we remain in the blogging world. And now you are facing snow! Well I thought it was bad here with freezing frosty temperatures each night. Plus there was a mountain lion in our backyard. Loving it. Take care...

Beautiful shots and textures! The ornament reminds me of those Mom used to decorate our trees with when I was little. Think my Sis has them now. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful time with your family!

Hey Becks, hope you had a wonderful holiday. I love the "no gifts" thing. We are working torwards that, but haven't quite gotten there, though I made most of my gifts this year. I love what you've done w/the photographs... was it a template or filter? gorgeous. I too, had my first tree in a long time! Since I had been traveling for work... it had been 7 years! Fun to get out the old boxes & hang the ornaments! I had mine up since the day after thanksgiving... so it was pretty crisp by the time I took it to be recycled this weekend!!
