shadow shot sunday

I don't go looking for beauty.  I merely find what I see...

he and I, waiting for the walk light

today's shadow shot was taken on Michigan Ave. in downtown Milwaukee, looking west.  we stood facing each other for what seemed  an endless amount of time, and though there was little traffic that morning, neither of us walked against the light.   it was a long light, long wait.   I don't know the name of the building to the left, but it's historical, to be sure.
thanks for checking out my shadows today.   shadow chasers gather every weekend at Hey Harriet.   head over and view shadows from all around the globe, or add one of your own!   happy weekend everyone.

I love the expanse and where the shadow seems to draw the line. I took my SS just yesterday. My eye goes right for them. http://looseleafnotes.com

Nice shot. Two strangers momentarily together. On the rare occasion when I ride an elevator, I always imagine what if we occupants were suddenly forced to get acquainted and live together.

Great shadow shot. Like it.

Great shadow shot for the day, Ms. Becky!! Interesting how the man seems like little more than a speck on the page as he stands between the two buildings! Hope you have a great weekend!

Me? I would have walked against the light. Oh, I am such a rebel. Another wonderful black & white. It has that pure Ms.Becky touch, something I continue to strive for myself. Happy weekend to you.

I like that you find beauty all over. This is really a great ShadowShot!

I probably would have dashed across the street against the light (assuming no children were looking), since I'm always in a hurry!

SHADOW SHOW

Shadows creeping through the land,
Shadows dark on every hand—
If they should begin to glow,
You had better run, you know!

Becky - I love your opening sentence -'He and I waiting for the light,'
Could be the start of a poem, the first line of an exciting novel ...
Your shadows are cool too.

From the perspective of this shot, the building looks to be what I call a “flat iron” building. I love them. The vintage nature of this shot is so appealing to me. Guess that really does show my age. Thanks for your sweet comments about Eloise. It was our custodian at school that did the great pink paint job on the sticks. They HAD to be pink! What would we do without our friends. genie

AWESOME! I love the perspective, the tones, the strangeness, the impact. Elegant.

Ms Becky this was too funny .. almost like a stand off at the OK Corral .. a gunslinger waiting for the draw and neither one of you walking against the light ? LOL
That building is very impressive too !

And I imagined a possible romantic encounter in
the making! Lots to imagine here beside an
impressive building!

The huge gaping space between you and he + his arms akimbo in frustrated patience almost seem to suggest you both wait for a countdown to some duel! And the huge shadow from the building on the left almost seems like a gallery of watchers! (I've only had one coffee this morning, so my imagination is wild!)

Love the old building casting its shadow across the street. Nice first line, too. So are you seriously considering NNWR? After I committed myself, I realized 1600 words would be a lot for someone working full time. Not sure I'll make it, but I'm going to try.

Great building. I love your thought at the top about "I don't go looking for beauty, I merely find what I see". Hope your weekend is going well. Mickie :)

And here I thought only Canadians waited for green lights when there's no traffic. Good for you and the patient gentleman. Wouldn't happen in New York city, where getting across the street is an act of bravery and dare-deviltry in which all pedestrians participate.

I didn't look this up, but is this the Allen-Bradley building? It seems of that era. When a manufacturer, sure of his product, allowed for a massive look, a style of importance. The building sits close to the road, and casts a mighty shadow over the street. The building and shadow add a permanence to MKE - the look of a great industrial past...

Beautiful... that hist. building is lovely.

Love this shot girl, what a cool building and that you both are patiently waiting is true patience, most would make a run for it...LOL!

My pc wouldn't let me sign in this morning, so I'm a bit late with my SSS, better than never huh...guess it got the cure while I was at work...ha!

I hung another skeleton today and displayed the crows, what a fun change for the shop...our lil' house of horrors, it ain't just for Halloween anymore...WAY FUN!!!!

Have a good one girl!!!

Looks like a lovely day in Milwaukee! Loved your MAM pics as well! We saw the China exhibit when we were there this summer....though my boys will always remember the museum as "the place where Transformers was filmed!" -lol! oh well, this was one museum visit they thought was cool!

This is a stunning sepia street shot, Becky. I applaud your patience... I tend to use lights as a guide, not an absolute. I would have crossed when seeing no traffic... and missed the shadow shot! :-D

what a profound setting you've captured...and it's totally perfection that you did it all in monochrome. Outstanding Ms. Becky!!!

It pulls me right in. Love it.
It looks like the buildings are expanding as I keep looking, and I can almost feel the clouds moving.
Great shot.

I wonder if he knew that he was one of the stars in your photo? Second to the shadows, of course!

Did the man see you take the photo? Sometimes when I take photos, especially if my subject is not something average people think I should be photographing, I get strange looks. My family has gotten used to my love of shadows and capturing them with my camera at strange and uncommon places. I figure, you only live once, so do what makes you happy as long as it isn't causing harm to anyone.
