shadow shot sunday

this week's shadow shot was taken at Boerner Botanical Gardens on the outskirts of Milwaukee.    we were, for the most part, spared the bite of frost the other night.   I didn't realize until 10 p.m. that there was a widespread frost warning -  I was outside in my nightie dragging in my tropicals that go out each spring and then come back indoors for the winter.   it happens every year - I'm just never prepared!   but all was well and the plants are safely tucked into their respective corners of the house for the coming winter months.

for now, we're still enjoying warm, sunny days, but it's official - we're in a drought.   nothing like in other parts of the nation, but it surely is dry and crispy out there.    thanks for checking out my shadows this week.   roam on over to see Tracy at Hey Harriet where you'll find even more.    you'll be glad you did.   happy weekend everyone.

we're still getting temps in the 90s here, but at least some parts of texas are getting spots of rain. nothing at run*a*round yet, but it'll come!!!

The sidewalk surrounding the table and chairs is now offering us hints of Autumn, as showing now dead leaves blowing about. Yet the remaining flora is a lovely as ever, as if it could defy nature all yeau.

Alas...there has not yet been a frost in CT, but we are enjoying temps approxomately 20 deg F lower than the past Wed and Thurs. So summer ends shortly, not just by the calendar but in our hearts. Brrrrr soon!

Lovely shot Ms. Becky! I hope you all get some rain soon. We've gotten some but we're still low for this time of year.

I can feel a touch fall in your lovely capture for the day, Becky!! Wonderful shadows! We're back to gray in Seattle with temps in the 60s for a high. Fall is definitely on the way after our "two week" summer! What a weird year this has been! Enjoy your weekend!

No frost warnings here yet, but the crisp air tells me it won't be long. Love the muted color in this shot.

What a beautiful shadow shot!

The first frost always takes me by surprise, too! Luckily, I don't tend to have any frost intolerant plants out there, but I'm always caught without the scraper for my car and I can never remember which 'perfectly safe and memorable place' I stored it in! ;D Good thing bank cards work as window scrapers, too! LOL

An inviting place to sit and talk or just be silent. We're getting rain, both in he mountains and in Denver - I'll send some your way (do you want any snow?).

Glad you were able to save your plants. I like the tone of the photo; it does look like the first days of autumn.

Soft and pretty shadows, Ms. Becky! We have been having cold nights too, and I've been putting my hanging baskets in the garage at night (so much easier than the under-the-lawn-chair-beach towel contraption that I was doing before). Our housesitter's boyfriend figured out the easy way, lol.

I'm wondering if your sister took you on a hike near Opal Creek or Breightenbush? Those are near Mill City ... I haven't been to either one yet, but have heard of them and seen pictures.

Thanks so much for stopping by to say hi, and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

You have so many beautiful opportunities for photographs! I'm envious. This particular scene is really lovely, Ms. Becky. (No frost here yet, but it's down into the 30's at night. I have some new lilies that haven't bloomed yet!)

Looking at the leaves on the sidewalk around the chairs makes me think that fall is just around the corner....beautiful shot. Even if it is chilly, those chairs look pretty darn inviting for a rest on a Sunday afternoon.I am ready for the change. New colors and images to treat the old eyes. Beautiful.

I am so afraid that it is going to be a short fall...it done has the feel of winter part of the time here.

Glad your midnight stroll to rescue plants in your nightie was a success....and sorry about the bad back. Hope it is better.
This garden spot looks like a lovely place to unwind. I'd love to sip a glass of red there.
