shadow shot sunday

I went to the Wisconsin State Fair yesterday.   a friend owns and operates the Double K Corral - a restaurant/bar there, so I staked out a claim on one of the bar stools and just sat and watched the flow of people go by.  I managed to catch a few shadows too.

I like that I caught a guy mid-chew on that hot dog.   and the two women sitting on the bench over on the left.  they look comfortable and easy.   and what would a candid shot be without someone with a phone attached to their ear?

I guess the state fair is all about eating and drinking.   something/anything.

I ate a beer-battered, deep-fried walleye sandwich,  a Chicago style hot dog, (which wasn't my idea of Chicago style) and a slice of cheese pizza.   it was all bad except for the pizza.  I passed on the deep-fried butter and the chocolate covered bacon.   next week I'm volunteering two shifts as a Master Gardener, so I'll most likely be eating more bad fair food then.   oh help me.     thanks for checking out my shadow shots this week.   head on over and visit Tracy at Hey Harriet to see some fab shadows - you'll be satisfied.   have a great weekend everyone.  sit long, talk much.

These are wonderful. I think some of the best photography can be had at people places - people just being people. I do get self-conscious at times, especially if I point the camera in the direction of a woman or little girl. Like I may be looked upon as some creepy old man taking pictures of women. Unfortunately that is just the times we live in these days. A female photographer would not have such a concern. Now as for all that fair food, I think my stomach would soon rebel. I like the sign in the background "Racing Pigs..." now there was a story and some pictures I bet.

I'm surprised you didn't get more phones glued to ears!

Thanks for showing your view on the state fair. Have you ever thought when attending next year to serve something with fruits/herbs as results of your work as gardener? (Just thinking that everything is about food and drink and talk...)

You show that people watching is an art, and we get better at it the more we participate...

Fair food is a hit-or-miss proposition. Fried fish always seems better at a place where the flour is seasoned just so and the oil changed at least occasionally. In this part of the US, only salt water fish is fried, so perhaps fried walleye (the state fish of MN if I recall) is a treat should we get west of Lake Michigan.

Battered and fried things like Oreos depend on the batter, Obviously, a hot dog is a hot dog, and the simpler mustard topping works for me. So, skip some of the food and watch more people at the fair next week...

What? Nothing on a stick? I thought all fair food was served on a stick. :)

I love fairs. We have an annual county fair in early September. A few days into the first week of school, we have kids come back to school with all the residual effects of too much fun: tired, grumpy and very, very un-attentive!

There is one food I can never pass up at a fair - fried dough with maple butter. Yum!

Have fun as a Master Gardener. What are you showing off?

Love,
G

Great shadows. Grim menu. Chocolate-covered bacon? Gives me gastric reflux just to think of it!

A fascinating parade of shadows! It's great to obeserve the characters of passing action - especially with a camera in tow!

Fairs are such great places to people watch! If I were you, I would skip the fair fare and pack my own lunch. Great shadow shots BTW.

I can tell from these shots that you were have a grand old time just sitting there and watching the people walk by. You managed to capture some fine shadows. But, then, you are always Jonny on the Spot. Great photos this week. Genie

I love watching people. In the malls, on the streets or anywhere. People living their lives doing the everyday mundane things. You seem to have watched a steady flow of people from your location at the fair and you captured some wonderful shadows of the people and the bench too.

Loved the captures... Watching people and their expressions can teach you so many things...
In the local train in Mumbai, there are thousands of commuters, each immersed in own thoughts, some happy, some sad... Some just lost in themselves!! Its fun...
Have a fabulous Sunday Becky and wish you a very Happy Friendship Day:)

Yep-you've certainly captured the state fair and the essence of it! It is true-eating and drinking something/anything.
Let's not forget funnel cake too! Lord, help you girl...there's no way around it.

I love state fair, here there's a lot of festival, Water Front, Maple, Potato, you name it and they have it all, what I love the most is if the celebration held in small and old towns, I already picked my favorite town and yeah food are not so great but still people enjoys every little details of the happenings and that is the most important thing.

Great place for shadow shots, but not for food, I learn. I've never been to a state fair... :-)

In the second photo I like the "cow hide" garbage can, that is funny. In the last photo, I can't believe you got a shot of an empty bench at a fair!! what in the world. That is like unheard of. I always stick with lemonade and corndogs and finish off with some cotton candy. Although they don't swirl it on a stick and eating out of a plastic bag is just wrong.
