as far back as I can remember
I've thought corn was the most beautiful of plants
with ribbed curving leaves
that direct raindrops to the
stalk, traveling down into
the soil beneath for the roots
to drink up and anchor against July winds
and....I passed the Healthy Plant Advisor on-line class that had me in the weeds for a month ~
Becky,
Congratulations! Your final grade for the Plant Health Advisor online course is 96.96% after all the questions were scored. I review and re-score every exam because the auto-grader only accepts exact matches. I also give partial credit on many of the questions.
Your certificate will be mailed in the next couple of days. I hope you will find your volunteer work as a Master Gardener Plant Health Advisor rewarding.
thanks everyone, for all the support!

Lovely shadow shots for the day, Becky! Hope your weekend is off to a good start! Enjoy!

The large and pointed leaves are beautiful, indeed. The excess water that each leaf cannot hold is aimed toward the ground and thus to its roots. That each plant starts with a seed and rises to great heights indeed is a wonder of nature! Have a blessed week!
woo hoo!!! congrats to you! great score!
I've always liked the looks of corn also. I REALLY like to eat it.
Congrats on passing the class. That is one subject of which I know very little.
Fantastic! A plus! I like corn leaves and plants too. I grew up surrounded by corn fields in eastern NC, and roamed all through them...
Congratulations on passing your test with such a good grade! Corn is beautiful, and you captured some beautiful shadows, as well!
Congrats! I spent one week in my youth detasseling corn ... worst job I EVER had. I love the beauty of corn fields ... just not in their rows!
I love corn... as a plant it is beautiful!
In my opinion the black and white image is much more dramatic than the color. You just wouldn't think when taking a picture of a plant. Congratulations on that high score. Wow, I think you worked too hard. Am looking forward to a nice black and white shot of your Master Gardner Plant Health Advisor certification when it arrives. So do you now have a M.G.P.H.A. behind your name?
What an innovative idea to do a B & W of the corn! Congratulations to you on becoming a Master Gardener!!...:)JP
Congrats master gardener!! You need to come to my house and plump up the unattended perenials. I've not a clue-and perfectly OK with that.
Prefering the black and white of the two of these. Love what you wrote about corn leaves. I never really thought about them before. Hope you're having a happy weekend.
I share your admiration for the beauty of corn. I also share your joy on becoming a Master Gardener Plant Health Advisor. :-)
SHADOW DANCE
Shadows here and shadows there,
Shadows, shadows everywhere!
Shadows left and shadows right;
Shadows dancing through the night!
Shadows crouching on the wall;
Shadows spring and shadows fall
On the unsuspecting guest,
Who thought shadows offered rest!

Shadows here and here
Yay! Now I have someone I can go to for my problems. Oh, plant problems. :)
And I like corn too. It's pretty much a given when you live in Nebraska.
Excellent score on your test.
Very nice shadow photos.
Congrats Miss Becky,Master Gardener!! Very cool accomplishment. I have always liked corn too...especially to eat it off the cob! Good ShadowShots. Happy SSS.
WoW! Congratulations, Becky! And your photos of the corn deserve an A+ too!
Corn-gratulations...sorry, I couldn't resist...how fun was that, a master gardener huh, now tell me that's your corn. I would love to grow it again, but the storms always seem to blow it down for me, but next year I think I may do a row of popcorn and maybe Indian corn, fun huh! Now if my tiller would just get here before summers over, I could really do some damage to my yard!
Don't know why, but I'm way more dedicated to my garden this year, maybe it's the state of the economy, or I'm just wanting to do more than a hobby garden with tomato envy and my flower gardens are doing fabulous, though no honey bees have arrived yet, sigh...but my all time fave plant in the flower garden is the lowly milkweed and I encourage everyone to plant them, the scent is unbelievable, intoxicating...and I can smell it all around my garden...it's the simple things and since I've been watering, they're over 5 feet tall and still blooming strong!
Have a sunny Sunday!!!
Really great captures!
hey Master Gardener! you've captured the greens beautifully :)
Gorgeous shadow capture!
Shadows at my page, please come and see.
Congrats!!! I've entertained the notion of becoming a Master Gardener...
I love the graceful lines of the b/w image.
Hi Becks,

Corn is definitely beautiful, its delicious too!!

I've never thought of corn stalks such as you described. It brings up a whole new perspective. I really enjoyed the view with the monochrome at the top. Well done.

Hope your weekend is treating you well!!
Congratulations Ms. Becky!!!
Very nice shots, especially the first :)
Have a nice day!
Well done, dear friend. A truly impressive result and hope you enjoy your work. And as Hootin' Anni said, I've never really considered corn stalks in the way you've described - one of the many reasons I love coming here. Always a fresh photo subject, perspective and wonderful words to match.
That was a great score, congrats! Nice shot of the corn as well. Happy SS.
The second one reminds me of something out of the Wizard of Oz. My corn is taller than a toddler. If it was a kid it would be in the second grade. http://looseleafnotes.com

really like this picture
Congratulations! :)
Very pretty photos.
Years ago, :) , I had a job detasseling. It was the worst! The next summer I went back to pulling weeds in the bean fields. :)
I love your words on corn. The b/w is gorgeous and followed by the green really makes each one the more appreciated.
My husband is trying to grow some now, although, we planted it late, we're hopeful.
congratulations on your advisor accomplishment!
Congratulations. 96.96% is wonderful.
Your photos of corn are beautiful. I confess to liking the B&W best because my first photos were all B&W.

Congratulations on your class score. That is awesome!
Great corn pictures. I like the black and white one the most. There is just something about those shots.
Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations - WOO HOO! I LOVE the black and white shadow shot of the corn particularly but they are both gorgeous. I feel the same about corn but that might be because I grew up surrounded by fields of it!
96.6!!

I think corn plants are beautiful too
Congrats Becky...and I love the black and white...so clever to think of doing it that way...

LOOK AT YOU!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
How wonderful!!

First, a big congratulations, Becky. Your hard work -- or natural brilliance -- paid off well. Second, can I ask a question? What does a plant health advisor do? Is that like a plant doctor? You can tell when a plant is not well? And then after diagnosis, do you give a prognosis and prescribe? How do you plan to use this new knowledge? And third, I like how you find beauty everywhere. Lovely photos of the corn leaves. The variegation in the leaves show well in the monochrome.
