for this week's shadow shot I looked no further than my kitchen. our taste of mild temperatures lasted just a few days, but there are subtle signs of changes to come.
it's windy outside - a clue that the days of Winter are waning and Spring is making a move. the duel between the two seasons is about to begin and I'm taking my seat...
Your time has come, now hasten little snowflakes,
To vanish quite away;
The spring-tide hours are sounding gentle warnings
Forbidding you to stay.

Love all that dappled sun shining in the windows! Nice shot.
We've had a sweet taste of things to come here too...ushered in with lots of wind...I like to think of those winds as the "winds of change" and they make me giddy with joy...bring on the spring!!
your shot is very warm and cozy! i think the small salt shaker is very interesting. i like how the light is reflecting in it...plus it's a cool little shaker!
Terrific shot! Love the sunshine! And it does look warm in cozy! We actually have sun today, but it is windy and chill! Still, you can bet I'll get out with the camera if only to welcome the first real touch of spring! Enjoy the weekend!

The view here is like an artistic display at a gallery. The salt shaker, colander and glass add lines and arcs that complement so well the shadows. The windowpane and lighting accent the peach colored walls wonderfully. I see a painting here - one that works on any white wall! Enjoy your week!
What a fun shot - artsy too! Love the colors as well...and we are eyeing that fun salt shaker.....
This shadow shot sizzles!
A PARFAIT DAY
A seeker of shadows one day
Did trip as she went on her way;
She picked herself up
And dipped from a cup
Of shadowy lemon parfait!

Love the colors in this photo!
NICE!
Looks like a still life painting. Very nice and well done. Don't think I could do anything remotely close to something like this.
I like your shadow, I do - but I must tell you that I am really coveting that cool blue strainer right now. It looks metal and sturdy and I want it. ;)
It's very windy here and we are under a blowing snow warning. And our electricity went out two or three times during the night. But I suppose it does mean spring is nearing. :))
gorgeous, gorgeous color on that wall.

miss becky...love the shot and the poem!!! lots of sun today with 9 inches of the white stuff for tomorrow...but it is "forbidden to stay".
Gorgeous shadow shot!
My shadow entry
Gorgeous colour tones in this delightful "still life" photo!
So nice how shadows define round objects.
Great angle, and what a sweet art deco salt shaker. It's interesting how many colours (tones?) appear when you look closely, even the blue and green have a tinge of pink. Now I have to ask...what was in the glass?
I tried to leave a comment mid week twice, but they both got eaten, now I can't remember what I said - sorry.
I've just noticed a bird shape appearing from the colander, and a cool concave shape just behind the glass, there's something new each time I look!
Have a lovely week Becky.
Oh, this is a lovely shot - the light from the window, the lovely colander, lovely!
Love the colour combination of the colander and the red background! Sweet! It's a gorgeous photo and I'm happy to hear that spring is blowing your way. What a relief that must be. Have a great weekend :)
ordinary things looking extraordinary. great shot!
Very nice! Love the colours and all.
Don't you love the days in winter when there is sun? Great shot.
Oh Becky! This is SO pretty!
And I hear 'ya about the seasons! I worry about Spring here in the South!
Happy Sunday!

This cheerful sunshine somewhat involves a faint Spring flavor.
You have such a good eye of photography, Becky. Your selection of the objects, the colors and the composition are exquisite!
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Amazing! It makes me think of a bloody steak but want a salad.
That red is lovely! Such a spring-like shot.
What a gorgeous study of light and shadow and wonderful colors.
What a cool shot! It is sunny here today but only a slight wind, compared to yesterdays tempestuous gusts.
Thanks for your comments on TPS. Love getting them!
Gina
really love the light and excellent composition too :)
Wow, Miss Becky - look at those beautiful shadows and the colour of that colander. Beautiful light and shade contrast and glad to hear the weather is warming up for you xxx
ps thanks as always for your beautiful blog comments
Lovely. Love the colours together. So soft. Charmaine
Oh, my, my,my! What a scrumptious image to find in your kitchen!!
I'll be savoring this one for a while....
I love to play with the light from windows. Cool choice the colander...the little pin holes of varying colors. Cool subtle shadows on the wall too. Nicely done my friend.
Windy here as well...bring on the lion, 'cuz then comes the lamb.
Boy did we have a thunderstorm this morning, I have a metal roof and it got me and the furball up in a flash...sure is nice to see all the snow gone though. Funny how moods change with the weather channel...RATS, more snow on the way, though I think more for you than us...COME ON SPRING!!!
Well, Becky, I just happen to have owned that identical colander, turquoise enamel. How fun to see it again!
What a unique color that teal enamel colander... and with the retro salt shaker and glass and all that light and shadows... makes a moody kitchen capture.
Hello, Miss Becky! I really enjoyed your SS today ... so bright and cheerful. Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello yesterday.
God bless,
Kathy

I love the warm red of the background and the colour blue of the colander. Thank you for visiting my site. I have just read the 56 deep things on your header. You sound so much like me :0)
This is a stunning shot! I love the still life you set up, and the lush red shadows that compliment it so strikingly. Isn't it wonderful how much beauty there is in the everyday?

Got something for you at loose leaf notes.
Gorgeous simplicity. Love the colors..the shadow..the light! My first time here - wonderful blog!!!
what a still life! this is amazing, how I like the contrasting colors. We just had experienced another snow last night and I think another will come. And yet your are right with the spring coming. The wind is becoming like the air I breathe back at home in the Philippines. Sometimes it's scary. While rain is a blessing for an agricultural country like us, but rain usually comes with the typhoon and flood in South East Asia. That makes it scary.
I have that same colander, but mine is a pale, vintage green.
